A Little Bit About Laura:
I grew up in Northern Virginia, where I've been putting on shows since I was five, by corralling my brothers into playing my supporting cast. I just moved to LA from NYC where I had done shows all around the city and traveled to regional companies around the US.
A life long Jane Austen fan, I found a way to productively channel that love into The Jane Games, a web series I co-wrote & produced and now is going around the festivals. It's based on Jane Austen Characters, where I play a modern Anne Eliott. Find it at: www.TheJaneGames.com .
I was a founding member of [By The Mummers], an interactive sketch ensemble creating new plays and videos in NYC. I have also been a Board member of Tempest Productions, an educational theater company where I have preformed and taught for years. http://www.tempestproductions.org/
I've taken improv training at the Upright Citizen's Brigade, The Groundlings, and with Gary Izzo, (author of The Art Of Play), in his Bless The Mark program for improvisation and interactive theater.
I studied at the University of South Carolina before transferring to James Madison University, where I got a BA in Theatre. Next I became an Acting Apprentice at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, where I preformed in the Humana Festival, as Beth in Fast and Loose .
In London I earned my Acting Shakespeare certificate at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). And have passed on the love of Shakespeare to 4th graders as a teaching Artist, through Tempest Productions Residency program.
I love looking for excuses to visit new places, working with kids, English Country Dancing, and learning obscure details about historical time periods. I'm excited to explore all the opportunities the West Coast has to offer.
